Bonsai Tree

Like a bonsai tree, planted
in the soil on a narrow ghaito
I spread my two branches out
And I withered out
Being confined in the suffocating walls
Then I folded in my bare fingers
pointing up in the air for breathing
I drew back the fate-lines
hurriedly in search of publication
And now I’m imprisoned within my own fist
I’m confined amidst my own hardship
But some day
By any chance, if you recognize the wind inside you
And light inside you
You will know, from outside
no matter how hardened  I may seem-
I’m  soft
Like the palm closed in the fist.

bonsai: An ornamental tree or shrub grown in a pot, using the art of bonsai originated in Japan
ghaito: Round bulging earthen drum to store water, grain, etc.
