The Sun
Long ago, when I was in my Father's home
How slow the sun set!
Even after we were done with all the chores
We could find enough time
To play whirl-and-go
On the peepal-banyan mound.
Today, at my husband's home
How soon the sun sets,
Leaving in a mess a lot of chores
At the yard and the scullery
And spills darkness
All over the banyan-peepal mound
Where I stay waiting.
