Hadaa Sendoo
(Mongolia)
The Gobi (Poem)
(For Danzanravjaa)
When the wind of the eastern Gobi
flows through my body,
When a deep emotion, like the sky,
stays the source of my poetry,
When the moon and the cuckoo
appear above the high mountains,
When a long song arises across the red desert
my eyes fill with tears of Buddha.
* Danzanravjaa (1803-1856) was a 19th century Mongolian thinker and great poet who is considered a living Buddha.
